Java 8

No walls of text - just a bunch of commented code snippets. Enjoy!

Today Java 8 will be released. A nice tutorial with all new features (Java 8 is even more than just Lambdas) can be found in this Java 8 Tutorial.

Understanding Express

This is aimed at people who have some familiarity with Node.js. They know how to run Node scripts and can install packages with npm. You don't have to be an expert, though -- I promise. This guide was last updated for Express 4.0.0. It's an introduction and mostly deals with concepts.

Little reminder for me (and for you, if you want to learn something): Article 'Understanding Express' by Evan Hahn

The guys at GitHub developed a new editor:

At GitHub, we're building the text editor we've always wanted. A tool you can customize to do anything, but also use productively on the first day without ever touching a config file. Atom is modern, approachable, and hackable to the core. We can't wait to see what you build with it.

Very exciting: the editor is based on node.js and web technologies. They use chromium (and I think node-webkit) to create this cool application. feels like a native application and I enjoy, writing code with it. There are also packages to customize the editor (themes, extensions). Something, I'm really waiting for, is a integrated terminal.

Currently, there is only a Mac OS X version of the editor. I have two invites left so feel free to contact me, if you want to test it, too.

After some years without a blog and motivated by Stephan I'm back. Time to write about all the exiting things out there.

This page runs on GitHub Pages and so I don't have to care for a server or some configuration files.
